FUNG Tak Man
Artwork title
Master Fung Tak Man, the rare Chinese furniture-painting artist, depicts a number of distinctive buildings in Sham Shui Po, including Mei Ho House, Heng Ching Pawn Shop, cooked food stalls on Yiu Tung Street and the Sham Shui Po Police Station. Moreover, “138 heroes”, who are the grassroots characters in the district such as the ones selling stir-fry chestnuts and vegetables, are painted on the multi-fan eight-foot tall screens.
Tony Chan from Anispace Studio leads one of the “Too Proud” workshops which is a crossover between traditional crafts and advanced computer technology. Tony and his students capture Master Fung’s creations in photographs and transform them into animation, displaying the people, anecdotes and commodities in Sham Shui Po vividly in front of the audiences.
