Lam Pei

Artwork title
Sham Shui Po is full of human touches and there are explicit features of an old community. We have not paid attention to preserve this kind of human touch while the city is developing; instead, we speed up to build walls to separate our privacy from others every day. We no longer talk to people we do not know, not to mention being amiable to those who pass by. Our days seem to elapse without joy. I realised that various types of chairs were still preserved on the streets in Sham Shui Po. Although not many passers-by chose to sit down, I kept imagining people would gather here to talk to residents they never get to know. Would they be spending the whole day in a more delightful way? Therefore, this piece of artwork consists of chairs picked up from different places being placed in a giant tea cup. Please get into the giant tea cup and take a seat. With the message “Be nice to people” in mind, you can feel the simplicity of trust among people around you.
