初學攝影,我以為只需熟練雙手,就可舉機拍攝;
香港人愈來愈忙,忙得無暇停下來觀察身邊的事物;

EPILOGUE
Blessed I am for having
a pair of observing eyes.
When I just started photo-taking, I thought
what matters the most is being skillful in
handling the camera.
After becoming a
photojournalist, it comes to me that one needs
to be swift in order to capture the momentous
photos.
From then onwards, I strive my very
best at all moment in order to document every
significant moment of Hong Kong.
After the Handover, Hong Kong experienced
waves of adversities.
There were the 1997
Asian Financial Crisis, the outbreak of Avian
Flu and SARS, continuous economic
recession......
The mood of Hongkonger sank
with these events. While I was recording these
upheavals,
there were also delightful
moments worth notifying yet being ignored.
Have you ever noticed the mechanism of an ATM while you withdrawing money from it?
One day when I walked passed an ATM, a scene
I have never imagined stroked me: there was a
hand reaching out from the screen of the
machine.
Only by then I realized these ATM
need maintenance. The ability to observe is
essential to take these photographs;
however
this is a common ability possessed by both you
and me.
Can you recall the time when you were still a child, where everything surrounding you triggers your curiosity?
Do you still remember, when you travel, you will be amused by the road sign there for no particular reason?
Hongkonger are getting busier, so busy that
we turn a blind eye to our surrounding.
Or
else we worry too much, so much so that we
forget that pleasure could be found in minute
things such as window-shopping at a
toyshop.
This kind of happiness is now being
concealed and forgotten.
It comes to my realization that touching
moment needs ones' initiative to participate and
a grateful heart to appreciate.
With sunshine
in your heart, you will see smiling faces in
gloomy days.
Only people at leisure could
hear birds' singing; busy people would be
blindfolded by the bustling life.
Undoubtedly we need a lot of patience to spot
out the funniest moment during cloudy air;
just as I have spent a whole week waiting
for the moment when the supporting staff of the
bank to repair the ATM.
It is my aim to bring joy to my fellow
Hongkonger the lively moments which are easily
ignored through my photography.
Heads up
Hongkonger, the day is now!
