Too Proud Workshop
Boundless and Limitless Creativity
We truly believe that creativity comes from daily life, and that local cultures and traditions are the fountains of new ideas. “Too Proud Workshop” encourages students who are interested in arts and design to really enter into the districts and the community, and to discover the hidden stories essences of our culture through visiting old shops, roaming old streets, and through interviewing owners and district residents. Such interactions would deepen the students’ understanding of local culture and history, and through assimilating these ideas it will help to stimulate their creativity of new artwork.
Towards these goals, HULU Culture has invited 15 local professional designers to be tutors for the projects, draw out the students’ potential and to coach them in freely expressing their creativity. Apart from understanding the community’s cultural heritage, the project also asks participants to interact with nature, by visiting the countryside and villages. This will strengthens the students’ awareness of sustainable development through ecological lifestyles, and to incorporate these ideas of renewal into their artwork.
Promoting the creation of artwork by interacting with the community’s past helps to pass on local our local cultural heritage, and it also plays an important role to nurture our creative industries. We are convinced that the artworks produced by the workshop groups will be the pride of Hong Kong’s people, which fulfils the intention and the spirit of the “Too Proud Workshops”.
