WONG Tin Yan
Wong Tin Yan was born in Hong Kong. He graduated from the Department of Fine Arts, Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2000. As a sculptor, he likes to collect some discarded wood pallets to create cartoon animal sculptures either by Mortise-and-ten on joining techniques or in D.I.Y. furniture style using screws. His works are not only affordable and intelligible, but also symbolic in addressing the philosophy of usefulness and uselessness. His works have been collected by the Hong Kong Museum of Art, local and overseas private collectors.

Octopus
The Octopus is both a sculpture and a piece of outdoor furniture which can be appreciated as an artwork and be used as a seat. Bolder children can even use it for recreation and climb on it. This is my favourite work in recent years as the Octopus’s multifunction design brings the distance between art pieces and the public closer.
