Born 1971 in Hong Kong, where he lives and works, Carl has been pivotal in fostering an appreciation of art among people from all walks of life in Hong Kong. A contemporary artist focused on large-scale installations, he was awarded the Bloomberg emerging artists award in 2009, one year after he received the Master of Fine Art from the RMIT University with the Outstanding MFA Achievement award in 2008. Carl has been invited to work on many site-specific installations which involve visitors to interact with and go into the art. He has held five solo exhibitions in 1998, 2001, 2008, 2009 and 2012.Carl initiated a large-scale art book publishing project “Oasis-Artists’ Studios in Hong Kong” in 2007, which documented recent local art community and development and also a series of books entitled “Hongkong/China Photographers”. Carl holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and Master of Fine Art degree from the RMIT University in Australia.
