There is no need to search for beautiful sceneries by travelling to famous mountains and lakes. By simply entering the countryside of Tsuen Wan and Kwai Tsing, the breathtaking sceneries of the areas, rich in ecological resources and local culture, will remain in the memories of visitors for a lifetime.

Some of the more well-known spots in the area would be Tai Mo Shan, Shing Mun Reservoir and Sam Dip Tam. One can either enjoy the panoramic views of Tsuen Wan from the top of Tai Mo Shan or engage in barbeque with one’s family and friends at the foot of the mountain. Sam Dip Tam provides hikers with excellent trails surrounded by forests, waterfall, water pools and the famed “Hero Rock” which is a testimony to the Japanese invasion.

Shing Mun Reservoir is known graced with lush vegetation especially the Melaleuca trees; it is a hotspot for viewing numerous species of butterflies and is a popular picnic spot. There are over a hundred temples located in these mountains and woods of the district, since the quiet and tranquil atmosphere is suitable for the retreat and training of Buddhist monks and Taoist priests. Being near to China’s borders might have caused many temples to be built in these areas as religious sects migrated to Hong Kong.

This large concentration of temples is another spectacle of the district.
