Nam Tin Chuk Temple

Nam Tin Chuk Temple (or literally South Tenjiku Temple) was constructed in 1935, occupying lands of 70,000 square feet. The temple mainly worships Buddha and Guan Yin and its first abbot was Master Rong Yan, who was succeeded by Master Mao Rui in 1939, until 1976 when he also passed away.

The temple is fronted by black teak gates with a gold-plated name plaque on top, and its main hall holds statues of Buddha and other Bodhisattvas as revered in Mahayana Buddhism. There are many points of interests with rich Buddhist significance. For example Bodhi Trees, an important symbol of Buddhism, are grown in the gardens, and around the temple there are scripted Buddhist teachings. At the back of the temple, there is the stupa of Master Tai Xu, and “Mercy and Equality” is written in large characters on the wall.
